| Driving at night is extemely hazardous
as 40% of all major accidents happen at night, yet it
makes up only 16% of all driving. Pilkington Optronics
are world leaders in the design and manufacture of night
vision systems formerly for the exclusive use of the
armed forces. |
| GX were asked to design a mechanism
which places an optical combiner in the line of vision
of the car driver. The mechanism had to deploy in a
matter of seconds and be stowed in the roof fo the vehicle.
GX manufactured four left hand drive and four right
hand drive versions which were fitted into luxury cars
which were tested in both Europe and America. There
were only three months for GX to design and build the
complex mechanism which had to operate within extremely
tight tolerances. |
