| In order to improve police and emergency
service response times and overall efficiency Petards
Datax commissioned GX to design and prototype a compact
data terminal for in-vehicle operation. |
| GX designed the data interface unit
which is mounted on the dashboard of vehicles and the
main processor unit which is mounted in the boot or
under the rear seat of the car. The terminal enables
access from the vehicle to central computers so information
for example on a stolen car can be transmitted immediately.
The GPS system enables control centres to know precisely
where a vehicle is, enabling the deployment of vehicles
to an incident with the minimum delay. |
| The same technology has been used
with gritting lorries so that gritting only takes place
on the correct roads saving both waste and money. |
