| Arrow Medical manufacture specialist
mouldings for use in surgical operations. In order to
diversify they decided to produce a lifting aid to assist
the elderly and infirm people to arise from their chairs.

| GX were provided with an initial
working model which was refined and taken through manufacturing
and approvals into the market place. The enclosure contains
an air pump which inflates an air bag located between
two hinged panels. The panels are placed under the seat
cushion so that no special furniture needs to be purchased.
The pump is activated by passing a hand over infrared
sensors located at the end of the flexible stalk. When
necessary, these sensors may be deactivated using a
separate switch to prevent patient operation. |
| Amara is capable of lifting people
weighing up to 30 stone, and can also be used in bed
to raise people to a sitting position. |
