GX established during the Phase
1 Feasibility Study that Thermal Electric Coolers
(TECs/Peltier devices) offered the most effective
means of delivering highly accurate temperature control.
Extruded heat sinks that rapidly cool and heat the
plates that house the PCR tubes were originally utilised
in “bread board” experiments. However,
GX proved that performance could be improved by creating
undulating fins on the heatsink and this approach
was used in the production device. |
